The way people see security and safety is changing around the world due to increase numbers of terrorism. Countries around the world are becoming more in favor of securing their border and bring in less and less immigrants. This sentiment has been gradually increasing over the years. However, one country government openly welcomed Syrian refugees and that nation is Germany. S. Akbarzadeh, and D. Conduit, (2016) state that more than 4.8 million refugees are living outside Syria, and many more are displaced in the country. Many countries now realize the effect the war has had not only to the Syrian people but to other surrounding nations. Before effects of terrorism can be discussed, a definition of terrorism must be understood. The definition of terrorism, according to Merriam-Webster (2016) is â€Å"the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion†. Examples include but are not limited to bombings, kidnappings, shootings, and killings. These types of terror affect people s physical and psychological wellbeing. Growing up in an environment like that can have a lasting effect especially on young children. Terrorism affects a child s social, behavioral, and physical development. In addition to the types of terrorism, countries in the Middle East were destabilized by the Arab Spring.
